Lecturing Fields:
Dynamics, Shock & vibration, Signal measurement and
analysis, Engineering Experimentation
Experience and Interests:

Author of over 200 consultancy reports to industry involving, among others, the evaluation of the mechanical properties of power transmission and optical fibre communication cables, the mechanical, dynamic and acoustic characteristics of various materials and components, the development of computer-based experimental systems and the development of remote monitoring systems. Author of some 50 articles in Scholarly Journals in the proceedings of international conferences.

My main research interests deal with the measurement, analysis and simulation of non-stationary and non-Gaussian random processes. Initially, this was applied to the simulation
and analysis of random wave fields. More recently, my research efforts have involved the characterisation of environmental shock and vibration with particular application to transport dynamics and their effects on shipment and products. Also related to this is the measurement and analysis of pavement topography with particular focus on the dynamic interaction between pavements, vehicles and products during transportation.
