INDUSTRY & COMMUNITY
Could you provide an
industry or community-based project
for our students?
If so, please complete and submit an
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM

Engineering at VU has always had close links with industry and the recent introduction of problem-based learning (PBL) in Engineering undergraduate courses had its origin in consultation with industry.

Our relationship with the engineering industry and the wider community is vital to ensuring our students hone their skills and knowledge through real world experiences. Our courses must produce engineers with sound technical knowledge and skills but who can also communicate effectively, work in multidisciplinary teams and understand the societal and global impact of engineering solutions.

How can you benefit?

As an industry or community partner you can benefit in tangible ways by having enthusiastic and capable students contribute to your organisation while they study as well as giving you the opportunity of previewing potential employees. In addition, this relationship allows you to contribute to the education of future engineering professionals as well as providing us with valuable feedback on our engineering programs.

How can you be involved?

The PBL engineering undergraduate programs (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural and Building) include opportunities for students in the second, third and fourth year of their degree to undertake projects in industry and community organisations.

In addition, engineering students currently undertake 12 weeks work experience as a vacation placement to meet the requirements for professional registration through Engineers Australia.
