Welcome to the Faculty of Arts, Education and Human Development!
Victoria University has a strong commitment to the quality of its teaching and learning. Its achievements in this area are reflected in the fact that it is consistently given a five star rating in the Good Universities Guide.
The Faculty of Arts, Education and Human Development is situated within this broad context of excellence in teaching and learning. It is dedicated to striving for consistent improvement in both the courses we teach and in the environment of collegial enquiry on which our work is founded.
We understand that one of the most important elements in a rich and rewarding learning experience is the quality of the relationships between students and staff. In our faculty we strive for excellence through our small class sizes, through our warm and supportive teaching staff and through a range of measures designed to help students from their first day with us through to their graduation day.
Some of these include:
- A faculty student centre which assists students with any questions about study or about studying throughout their time with us.
- Mentoring schemes where second and third students provide first year students with peer support in tackling the challenges of adjusting to university life.
- The opportunity to study abroad.
- Learning in the workplace initiatives where students have the chance to try out some of the skills they have learned in their courses.
- An international Student Advice Officer who works only with our international students to ensure that their time with us is productive and satisfying.
- Final year units which effectively prepare students for the transition to professional life.
Through these measures, we work hard to ensure that every student within our faculty is given the support and encouragement they need to excel within their chosen course, but also to plan for - and achieve - a first class career after they leave.
