This program provides advanced training and education in current theory and contemporary research in psychology. It provides you with the opportunity to immerse yourself into these areas as an interested and dynamic participant and provides for the development analytical, research and communication skills. You will no doubt enjoy and view your 'fourth year experience' as an important aspect of your development as a valued contributor to the many and varied fields of psychology.
The aims of the fourth year program are:
- To provide a course of advanced study in psychology at fourth-year level that builds on knowledge and skills developed in undergraduate degrees in Arts or Science.
- To prepare students for postgraduate research or professional careers in psychology and to satisfy the educational requirements for Associate Membership of the Australian Psychological Society.
- To enable students to develop skills in independent research, theoretical analysis and critical evaluation in psychology.
- To enable students to acquire advanced knowledge in selected areas of psychology and applied psychology.
- To provide students with an understanding of the nature of psychology as a profession, the ethical and legal responsibilities of the psychologist and the role of the Australian Psychological Society.
