NEW BACHELOR OF SPORT AND RECREATION MANAGEMENT Commencing Semester 1 2008
A new Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management course will be delivered at Footscray Park Campus commencing Semester 1 2008. This replaces the previous Sports Administration course (Sunbury campus) and the Recreation Management course (Footscray Park). The new three-year amalgamated course draws together the best parts from each course into a comprehensive, flexible program in which students develop their professional skills in administering and managing organisations, services, events and facilities across the sport and recreation industry as well as more specialist skills within one of the following streams:
- sport management
- recreation management
- outdoor recreation leadership
They can even pair the new course up with other degrees in:
- event management
- business management
- marketing
- sport and exercise science
to form four year double degrees.
All these courses have very strong work integrated learning components involving students directly in the sport and recreation industry and the community. basing learning on real life working experiences which helps graduates secure their job of choice in the future. In addition parts of the Sport and Recreation Management course and associated double degrees will be taught at Footscray's Whitten Oval (subject to final approval) in collaboration with the Western Bulldogs organisation including their community outreach programs.
