Partnerships

International Programs:

The School of Education has a vibrant exchange program with partners in Asia, Europe and North America. We are fortunate to receive many visiting academics and students from a range of international universities and strongly encourage students and staff to work in off-shore programs.

The Master of TESOL is taught with Hanoi University of Foreign Studies in Viet Nam and we have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with colleagues and students at HUFS for more than 7 years.

The Doctor of Education is taught with Burupha University in Thailand and have a number of successful candidates to date with many new graduates currently preparing their thesis. This is an exciting and innovative program in professional education made possible by our colleagues at BU.

What are Project Partnerships?

  • Project Partnerships are the central learning activity for preservice teachers and youth workers in the School of Education at Victoria University.
  • They are school/community-university partnerships designed to enhance the learning of school students, young people and communities as well as youth workers and preservice teachers.
  • They provide opportunities for inquiry, curriculum development and teaching and youth work practice. Strong partnerships enable preservice teachers and youth workers to express responsibility for young people and their learning and well being while working with mentors on a development initiatives.

Community Engagement:

Through collaborative engagement with Communities, Industry and Schools, it is possible for School of Education staff and students to work for improved learning, teaching, research and development for all partners. There are many examples of our extensive relationships with partners:

  • Project Partnerships is the central feature of all preservice programs in the School of Education and includes over 300 partnerships with schools, communities and other educational settings.
  • The School of Education is a leading partner in the Western Metropolitan Region Office of Schools- Victoria University Collaborative Agreement.
  • SWIRL (Story Writing In Remote Locations) is a unique partnership which involves preservice teachers and youth workers working with remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory around issues of young people and their literacy learning. Now in its 10 year, this highly successful program has enable over 200 School of Education students and many staff to work in the NT. More than 30 of these students have returned as graduate teachers to teach in similar communities in the NT. The project was initiated by Lawry Mahon, a lecturer in the School of Education and is also strongly supported by the NT Department of Education, DEST and IBM.

  • The Victoria Teachers Credit Union is a valued partner of the School and provides generous support to students and staff.
