International projects and activities are a major feature of the Faculty's commitment internationally. Current projects include:
- East Timor Reconstruction - VU and the Faculty have a strong commitment to contributing to reconstruction and development in East Timor. Currently, a group led by Dr Helen Hill and Dr Russell Wright is working with the National University of East Timor on the establishment of a jointly auspiced Centre for Community Development.
- Aceh Reconstruction - The Faculty is part of an academic network of Melbourne universities contributing to the redevelopment of universities in Aceh affected by the recent tsunami. Dr Richard Chauvel is the contact person for this project.
- Asian Development Initiatives - The Faculty develops and participates in professional development programs for bureaucrats, education and community leaders, lecturers and teachers from countries, such as Indonesia and China, to assist them in the development of their systems of governance, community service and engagement and education (at both school and tertiary levels). Some of these are run 'in-country' by VU staff, whilst others bring delegates to Melbourne for an intensive program.
- International Conferences - Every year the Faculty organizes international conferences in areas relevant to its programs. Two international conferences are being hosted by Faculty Schools in 2006: the International Sports Studies conference in March and the Intergenerational Consortium for Intergenerational Programs conference in June.
- Short Courses and Seminars Overseas - Public seminars and short professional training programs are offered by Faculty staff in places such as Hong Kong, Thailand and India.
