Vocational Education and Further Education students in financial need are invited to apply for equity scholarships at VU
Each application will be assessed against all scholarships available. Scholarships will be allocated to those most in need of financial support. Eligible students will receive only one scholarship.
JOHN BYRNE SCHOLARSHIP FOR REFUGEES
VU ACCESS SCHOLARSHIPS

100 scholarships available each year

Valued at $1,000 per year for up to two years

Do not need to be repaid by the student

Available to commencing and continuing students

Eligible applicants should Apply online
AVAILABLE TO:

Students enrolled in TAFE Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma courses

Not for international students, apprentices or trainees
MUST BE:

Australian Citizen
-
Australian Permanent Resident
-
Holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa
-
Holder of a Bridging or other Temporary visa
-
Enrolled on a full time basis (unless exceptional circumstances apply)

On Centrelink or able to prove financial need
HOW ARE APPLICATIONS ASSESSED?

Applicants are ranked according to their levels of financial, educational and social disadvantage
- Assessment is not based on academic merit
WESTERN REGION SCHOLARSHIP:
-
Available to students who have completed Year 12 in the Western Region of Melbourne in the year before enrolling at VU. "Western region" includes western metropolitan suburbs of Melbourne, the City of Hume, Moorabool Shire, Sunbury and Macedon Ranges areas
RETURN TO STUDY SCHOLARSHIP:

Available to students over 21 years of age who have had a break from full-time study for more than five years
TAFE YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP:
-
Available to students who have NOT completed Year 12, are under 19 years of age , or under 21 years of age and migrated to Australia in the last three years
PARENTS SCHOLARSHIP:
- Available to students who have dependent children (school age or under school age)
GENERAL ACCESS SCHOLARSHIP:
- Available to students who are on Centrelink and can demonstrate financial need who are not eligible for any of the other VU Access scholarships
JOHN BYRNE SCHOLARSHIP FOR REFUGEES

Must be enrolled in a VU TAFE course of at least twelve months duration

Must be aged between 25 and 35

Must be a refugee who has arrived in Australia in the last five years

Must be experiencing financial difficulty

WESTERN CHANCES SCHOLARSHIPS

Holders of a Western Chances Scholarship are eligible to apply for VU Scholarships if they enrol as full-time VU students

Western Chances VU Access Scholarships are available for up to 25 students each year
-
Scholarships are valued at $1,000 per year for up to two years

Eligible students must apply through Western Chances

ZONTA CLUB OF MELBOURNE'S WEST MOIRA PERILLO AWARD FOR WOMEN

One award valued at $500

Must be a female student

Must reside in the western suburbs of Melbourne

Must be enrolled in the second year of a two year VU TAFE course, in a non-traditional field of study
-
Eligible students should download and save the application form, complete it on a computer, print and submit by the closing date.

EDYTH RAWSON MEMORIAL AWARD FOR STUDENTS WITH A DISABILITY
- One award valued at $750
- Must be an enrolled VU TAFE student with a disability
- Must be enrolled in second year of a two year VU TAFE course
- Must be experiencing financial difficulty
