VICTORIA UNIVERSITY - UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
Victoria University, in partnership with the University of Melbourne, is pleased to offer Graduate Scholarships to support Postgraduate Coursework students in meeting the initial costs of graduate study.
Commencing in 2009, scholarships are offered as a one-off payment of $5000 in the first year of study. Over the next three years, up to a total of twenty scholarships will be available, with five offered in 2009, and up to ten in 2011.
Scholarships will be open to students enrolled in the following discipline areas at Victoria University:
- Exercise Rehabilitation,
- Sports Science
- Teacher Education
- Midwifery
- Nursing
Eligible courses will be identified and enrolled students from these courses will be invited to apply in the first two weeks of semester one each year. Eligible courses may vary each year. Standard admission criteria will apply to course entry and enrolment.
APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESSES
For 2009, scholarships will be open to students enrolled in the following courses at Victoria University:
- Exercise Rehabilitation (Master or Graduate Diploma in Exercise Rehabilitation - HGEX/HMER)
- Teacher Education (Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education - HGES)
Enrolled students from these courses will be invited to apply in the first two weeks of semester one. Eligibility to Apply for a VU-UOM Scholarship:
- Enrolled as a Commonwealth Supported student
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Not already have completed studies at the same or a higher level
The Selection Panel will assess and rank applications based on financial need and merit in undergraduate studies. Preference will be given to students:
- In receipt of Centrelink benefits (current or during undergraduate studies) or who can demonstrate financial need
- Who have completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne or Victoria University
- Enrolling in the VU graduate course immediately following undergraduate studies
- With at least a distinction average in their final year of undergraduate studies
- Enrolled on a full-time basis in the graduate program
- From a disadvantaged background: Disability or Medical Condition; Non-English Speaking background, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background
Applications will be accepted online via the MYVU Student Portal from early February 2009. Please refer back to this webpage in February 2009 for information on how and when to apply. Scholarships will be awarded in April 2009.
