Each application will be assessed against all scholarships available. Scholarships will be allocated to those most in need of financial support. Eligible students will receive only one scholarship.

COMMONWEALTH EDUCATION COSTS SCHOLARSHIPS (CECS)

Valued at $2,207 per year for up to four years (increases annually) to assist with general education costs
-
Approximately 150 of these scholarships will be available at Victoria University in 2009
COMMONWEALTH ACCOMMODATION SCHOLARSHIPS (CAS)
-
Valued at $4,415 per year for up to four years (increases annually) to assist with accommodation expenses

Approximately 50 of these scholarships will be available at Victoria University in 2009

Available to students from regional or remote areas who have relocated to study at VU
-
Must have lived in a regional or remote area for three out of the four years prior to commencing degree
-
Or moved from a regional or remote area to finish at least the final two years of secondary schooling
-
Or moved from a regional or remote area to study TAFE for no more than two years and will be commencing undergraduate studies immediately after completing TAFE.

How Do I Know If My Home Is In A "Regional or Remote Area"?
The Australian Standard Geographic Classification (ASGC) Remoteness Areas classification is used to determine regional and remote areas. Some cities are regional - for example, Canberra is a Major City, Hobart is regional. Click on the following link and type in your postcode: Postcode Lookup

INDIGENOUS ACCESS SCHOLARSHIPS (IAS)

A one-off payment of $4,166 to assist commencing indigenous students who need to relocate from regional or remote areas to undertake undergraduate studies. Students eligible for an IAS will also receive a CECS or CAS. Same criteria as listed for the CAS above. Available only to indigenous students.

WESTERN REGION SCHOLARSHIP:

Available to students who have completed Year 12 in the Western Region of Melbourne in the year before enrolling at VU. "Western region" includes western metropolitan suburbs of Melbourne, the City of Hume, Moorabool Shire, Sunbury and Macedon Ranges areas
RETURN TO STUDY SCHOLARSHIP:
- Available to students over 21 years of age who have had a break from full-time study for more than five years
PATHWAYS SCHOLARSHIP:
- Available to VU TAFE students who are transferring to a VU Undergraduate degree
PARENTS SCHOLARSHIP:
- Available to students who have dependent children (school age or under school age)
GENERAL ACCESS SCHOLARSHIP:
- Available to students who are on Centrelink and can demonstrate financial need who are not eligible for any of the other VU Access scholarships
SOROPTIMIST SCHOLARSHIP FOR INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIAN WOMEN

Valued at $2,500 per year for a maximum of two years
- Available to female students who are of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as Indigenous Australian and are accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived
- Must have completed at least first year of a Victoria University undergraduate degree with a minimum Credit (60%) result in at least 75% of the units
- Must be enrolling into second or third year of the same program in 2009
- Must be enrolled on a full time basis in 2009

VICTORIAN AMBULANCE SERVICE PARAMEDIC SCHOLARSHIPS
- Four scholarships, valued at $7500 per year for up to two years

Must have successfully completed first year studies and be enrolling in second year of the VU Bachelor of Health Science, Paramedic

Must be Australian citizen or Permanent resident

Must be on Centrelink or able to demonstrate financial difficulty

These scholarships are provided to assist students to successfully complete the course, and reduce the need for part-time work whilst studying

These scholarships do not commit students to employment with the Ambulance service, nor do they guarantee employment

VICTORIAN AMBULANCE SERVICE PARAMEDIC CALD SCHOLARSHIP

One scholarship, valued at $7500 per year for up to three years

Available to students commencing first year of the VU Bachelor of Health Science, Paramedic

Must be enrolled full-time

Must be on Centrelink or able to demonstrate financial difficulty

Must be Australian citizen or Permanent resident

Must be from a non-English speaking background (student or parent/s born overseas)

Must be fluent in a language other than English
-
Preference given to students who have ongoing connections with their ethnic community

This scholarship does not commit students to employment with the Ambulance service, nor does it guarantee employment

WESTERN CHANCES SCHOLARSHIPS

Holders of a Western Chances Scholarship are eligible to apply for VU Scholarships if they enrol as full-time VU students

Western Chances VU Access Scholarships are available for up to 25 students each year. Scholarships are valued at $1,000 per year for up to four years

Western Chances VU Success Scholarships are awarded to 3 students each year, one from each of the three higher education Faculties. Scholarships pay students course fees for the duration of an undergraduate degree (three or four years)
