Stephen Weller

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students) 

Stephen Weller is the Pro Vice-Chancellor Students at Victoria University and commenced this role in July 2006. As PVC Students he has stewardship for the student experience across the entire student journey and works to lead key initiatives in relation to the learning, living and support aspects of students within Victoria University.

Stephen has twenty years experience in the tertiary education sector including extensive leadership and management of student, faculty and campus operations at four different universities. During this period, he has held a series of progressively more senior appointments in tertiary education. Prior to his current appointment, he was Director, Student Services at Victoria University from 2004 to 2006, where he was active in introducing a number of initiatives to enhance and support student life and campus life through the provision of quality student focussed services. One of these key initiatives was the $3.5m Student Connections Project involving the establishment of a Student Contact Centre, ten campus based Student Service Centres and twelve Student Lounges.

Prior to joining Victoria University in 2004, Stephen was the Campus Manager of the Gatton Campus of the University of Queensland from 2001 to 2004. In this role he was responsible for the management of all administrative operations, commercial activities and campus services. From 1994 to 2001, he held a number of management positions in various faculties within the University of Technology, Sydney.

Stephen has a Bachelor of Arts (Government and Public Administration) from the University of Sydney, a Master of Commerce (Employment Relations) from the University of Western Sydney, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Technology, Sydney.

He is currently undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy with Victoria University in the area of organisational justice and participative workplace change with his doctoral thesis currently under examination. Stephen is the current Vice-President of the Association of Tertiary Education Management (ATEM) and an Associate Fellow with the Australian Institute of Management (AIM).
