Study Skills
How can I get good grades?
Develop relationships with your lecturers and tutors. Ask questions during and after class. Use their office hours to assist in clarifying concepts discussed in class or on upcoming assignments. This might sound scary, but it is much better than waiting until the day before your assignment is due to ask all your questions.
Where can I go if I want some extra help with study skills?
Teaching and Learning Support (TLS) provides a range of services and employs a variety of professional and technical staff to work collaboratively with students of the University to ensure optimal learning outcomes for all students.
Getting Involved
What is the best way to meet new friends and feel part of the university?
First year can be exciting, overwhelming and scary time. By getting involved you can ease the transition from secondary to tertiary study, meet people and gain a sense of belonging on campus. Getting involved early, when you are not so busy with work and study, is the best decision. To find out what is happening on campus, look at the Campus Life pages.
How many clubs should I join?
For new students, it is recommended to join no more than two clubs, especially if you have a job. Be reasonable with your time commitments. It is better to join fewer, and be more involved. To find out more about clubs on campus look at the Campus Life pages.
Housing
Where can I find somewhere to live?
Use the Housing Services to find long term rooms or rental properties.
