VU finished in 2nd place in both the Overall Points and Medal Tally at the 2008 South Challenge event held last week and won the Spirit of the Challenge Award.

The University was represented by 140 students across the team sports of AFL (m&w), Basketball (m&w), Netball (w&mx), Soccer (m&w), Touch (mx) and Volleyball (m&w).

Teams trialed and trained over a 2- 3 month period and comprised students from the City Flinders, Footscray Nicholson, Footscray Park, Melton, Newport, St Albans, Sunbury and Werribee campuses .

Twelve Universities were represented at the event from VIC, ACT and TAS.

Spirit of the Challenge Award
The Spirit of the Challenge recognises the university that has shown the best sportsmanship and captured the spirit of the event.

The week was a hugely successful one and Winning the Spirit of the Challenge is testimony to the hard work and organisation on and off the field by students, team managers, coaches and staff.
