Danni serves it up in Beijing

The combination of Chinese medicine and world-class wheelchair tennis may seem an odd combination, but VU student Ms Danni Di Toro has spent the past few years working hard at both. In September she will represent Australia at the Beijing Paralympics, then in November, she receives her Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture and Herbs) after five years of study.

Ali wrestles his way to Beijing

VU student and elite wrestler Ali Abdo is about to journey to Beijing for his third Olympic Games. Ali is in his fourth year of a five-year Masters in Osteopathy. He has been a student at VU through most of his Olympic career and worked as a gym instructor in the University's Sport and Fitness Centres.

Tania To Make Big Racquet in Beijing

VU student Tania Luiz is bound for Beijing as part of Australia's women's badminton team. Tania, 24 is studying a double Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Psychology at Footscray Park Campus, and will make her first Olympic appearance in China, a country considered the major powerhouse of badminton.

Erin Smashes Her Way to Beijing

Erin Carroll, 22, was named to the six-person Australian Olympic badminton team to compete in the women's singles event, after a reallocation of quota places by the World Badminton Federation. She is a third-year Bachelor of Applied Science student in Physical Education at VU's Footscray Park Campus.

Dennis Throwing his best

VU student Dennis Iverson has qualified for the Australian Judo team, ignoring doctors who told him he would never compete at an elite level again. Dennis, who is currently in his second year of a four-year Bachelor of Education degree at VU's Melton Campus, rates his Olympic berth as a sports career highlight.
