VWFL president & VU St Albans Spurs champion Debbie Lee will run out for her 200th game in the seniors this weekend.  Beginning her football career in 1991 at East Brunswick Debbie was instrumental in forming the Sunshine YCW Spurs in 1993. In 1997 Debbie suffered a serious knee injury and was out of action for a year so as part of her football journey she took up coaching and returned to the playing field in 1998. In 2000 the Sunshine YCW Spurs moved to St Albans for a well needed fresh start and in 2004 Debbie won the Lisa Hardeman medal for best on ground in the Grand Final as she captained the Spurs to their first ever premiership. Debbie is a five team Helen Lambert medallist, was Victorian captain for a number of years and has been named as All Australian on several ocassions.

Debbie also appeared as both a player & assistant coach on the Channel 7 reality TV show "The Hammerheads" where she worked to lift the profile of women playing footy.  Another knee injury in 2006 just weeks before the finals series meant another knee reconstruction and another spell on the sidelines. 2007 saw Debbie return to the playing arena with her beloved Spurs where they made it all the way to the prelim final at the G against the Mugars. The Mugars were too good on that day so Debbie has had to work her way through yet another pre season and now is finally about to reach this milestone.

In 2008 Victoria University has increased its ties with the Spurs now known as VU StAlbans Spurs. Congratulations Debbie and best wishes for this weekend.

In other Spurs milestones Danni Teasedale will play her 100th game and Dee Inkson will run out for her 50th game. Danni started playing footy at Heidelberg and moved to St Albans to pursue the opportunity to play the game at the highest level.
