Victoria University announced today that it will implement a new student management system which will support VU's 'Making VU - A New School of Thought' project, which will achieve a distinctive and sustainable future for the University.
The University Council has approved the recommendation of the preferred choice of software - Callista's Student Management system - and the University will now begin contract negotiations.
Mr Stephen Weller, VU's Pro Vice-Chancellor - Students said: "The new system will significantly improve the way students interact with the University and improve the speed that the University can respond to a changing sector."
"It will greatly benefit students and staff, providing them with a consistent and online, real time view of their information. We will be able to provide an enhanced student experience, improved information access and information flow, flexibility to adapt and evolve as requirements change, and improved service to academics."
"Part of our Making VU plan is to make learning in the workplace and the community a universal feature of VU courses and to offer a customised learning experience providing our students with tailored advice, fast track and imaginative course combinations, targeted learning support and personalised transition courses."
"With the new student management system the University will be able to make this happen, confident that it has the right systems infrastructure to meet the expectations of our students and staff in relation to learning in the workplace and personalised learning pathways."
"The existing VUSIS student management system, developed in-house more than 10 years ago, has served the University well, but is now coming to the end of its lifespan. It will be replaced with the new system which is planned to go live in early 2010 for all students and staff."
