Victoria University adapting programs for all

21 May 2008

Victoria University's School of Human Movement, Recreation and Performance will be holding an award ceremony for participants in the Adapted Physical Education Program at Footscray Park Campus on Wednesday 28 May.

Media are welcome to attend

The Adapted Physical Education program at VU provides physical exercise opportunities for adults and children with an intellectual disability.

The program is conducted by VU students giving them the opportunity to gain practical work experience during their studies and provides clients with access to a structured program in which they participate in traditional sport or active recreation.

The benefits to the participants are unlimited as physical activity improves their physical and psychological health, connections with their community and provides resilience to the stresses of modern life.

In 2006, the program received the VicHealth State Sport and Recreation Industry Award for excellence in the field.
