As part of the Melbourne Fringe Jazz Festival, Victoria University will showcase its talented students and staff along with two industry workshops.
The showcase will feature VU headline acts including:
Sophie's Quest
Steve Hornby Quartet
Travis Woods Quartet
With a Special Guest performance by Jonathon Zion, Peter Knight and Steve Rando
It will be held on Monday 21 April at 23 Bennetts Lane, Melbourne, from 7.30 - 9.30 pm
Sophie's Quest plays Latin Jazz, Jazz Ballads and Blues and consists of VU students and staff who have been performing together for nearly two years.
The Steve Hornby Quartet works across genres and features both cover and original material.
The Travis Woods Quartet, comprises four ambitious young students from the VU music program who have already secured a loyal following at their regular gig at Fidel's Café Bar in Essendon.
Two workshops will also be held on Thursday 24 April, at VU's Music Department, Building 22, Sunbury ampus from 1 - 4pm.
Workshop 1 on ensemble performance will feature Zoe Hauptman from Zoe and the Buttercups
Workshop 2 on electronic music will feature Kynan Robinson from the Escalators and Des Peres.
The VU School of Music offers a challenging and inspiring course lead by some of Melbourne's most respected performing musicians and is dedicated to developing a community of high quality live musical performance.
