The Marketing and Communications Department provides strategic direction, advice and service on all aspects of marketing to the University community. The MCD shapes and enhances VU's brand identity, and the University's reputation within the markets it serves.
The MCD is made up of six teams:

EVENTS AND SPONSORSHIP
The Events and Sponsorship team co-ordinates recruitment and University profile-building events and works with University sponsors to leverage the best return for VU. The Events and Sponsorship team has a close working relationship with the Marketing and Student Recruitment teams to ensure all activities are supported and fit with VU's marketing strategy.

GRAPHIC SERVICES
The Graphic Services team designs and co-ordinates publications and other forms of marketing collateral at a lower-than-market rate for desktop publishing. Graphic Services are responsible for all VU stationery (including business cards, letterhead etc.). One of the benefits of this in-house service is that materials produced by Graphic Services are consistent with the University's brand requirements - making the approval process for materials quick and easy.
A range of templates is also available for use; these can be found at on the MCD intranet site under Templates (staff login required).

PUBLICATIONS
The Publications team is responsible for producing the University's signature publications including:
- Connections, Victoria University's biannual magazine
- undergraduate course guides
- faculty handbooks
- Annual Report and Achievements.
These publications, including the Annual Report, are available in hard copy or can be viewed as online Publications. The team also publishes a monthly online staff newsletter (accessible only to staff via the University's intranet site). The 2004-2008 Victoria University
Strategic Plan (1139KB) is also available for download.

STUDENT RECRUITMENT
The Student Recruitment team provides future students with the information they need to choose a suitable study program at VU. The team is divided into two specialist groups which focus on:
- school leavers - students currently studying at school in year 10, 11 and 12
- non-school leavers - mature age students, current TAFE students, early school leavers and general community.
Student Recruitment will work with faculties across the University to maximise student enrolment in all programs.

MARKETING
The Marketing team is responsible for the development and implementation of the University's brand, and provides expert advice in relation to marketing campaigns from development to evaluation. The team is divided into three areas:
- corporate marketing - to provide marketing expertise to all non-academic areas of the University
- faculty marketing - to provide marketing expertise to all faculties including: higher education, vocational education and VU college
- brand - to provide marketing expertise in University campaign development, advertising and new media developments.

MEDIA
The Media team is the University's first point of contact for journalists and producers of broadcast and print media. They are responsible for managing media enquiries, generating media releases, promoting the University's achievements and maintaining a database of experts in various fields.
